00 Explore no power to OBDII "failed NYS Inspection"
Folks.
I did some searching but I am in a bind. My 00 Ford Explorer just went in for a NYS Inspection. New NYS law requires them to hook there computer up to my truck and scan for engine codes. Its NYS new system and they charge you 21 bucks everytime they hook the computer up, and they scan the registration on the windshield as soon as you pull in.
My truck failed because it had "OBDII Communication failrue, connectores are ok, bust stilll unable to coummunicate. The NYVIP unit must communicate with your vehilce to test its On Board Diagnosti sytem for New York State Inpsection. We recommend you contact a qulified techniician for assistance and have the vehilce repaired to manufacturer's specification."
My truck has check engine lights on in the past, but I corrected the situation with a new O2 Sensor. It runs fine, the check engine light does flash when the key is placed in the on position. It currently has no check engine light on.
Please help
thanks

Yes that is true, but the shops that acted quickly and got the equipment already are using it. Its hit and miss because they dont tell you they got the new equipment, and as soon as you pull in they scan your registration and start the inspection process ie, your vehicle is assumed to be failing until it completes the process. Also according to this shop and the others that I contacted you must take your vehicle back to the original shop that failed it.
This is borderline communism!
