'97 f-250 460c.i.d. blower imfo?

I'm wanting to put a supercharger/blower on my 97 F-250 Heavy Duty (old style). The truck has 5" lift w/ 35" tires, automatic, and stock 3.55 gears. Has anyone had any expierence in supercharging this engine? I can only find 1 manufacture who makes a supercharger for this truck. I put a holley 144 blower on my 21' Scarab boat and it works perfectly (my first blower) ,no problems! I would like some more input with others who have done the same thing i'm wanting to do w/my truck. Thankyou...

Procharger is working on a BIG BLOCK Ford kit, but otherwise you will be looking at the B&M or Weiand options, just like the Scarab. Whipple does Chevys only on their Street Rod and Marine kits.

It looks like this is the only thing available now...

When I had my '96 F350 Dually, I put a Vortech supercharger on it.
SWEET!!!!!!
It was a complete kit, took two days to install and have running. Wish I still had that truck. Man, what a blast to drive. Took it to the track on Wed. night and ran 15.9 with it. That was nipp'n on the heals of the '97 lightning that was running that night. He was going low 15's.

It was a 460/ auto with 4.10 gears. I have a picture of the blower installed. I'll try to get it put in my gallery.

97 Lightning???

If it was a Lightning and it was running low 15's then it was a GEN 1, 93-95. I've seen GEN 2's run low 14's and high 13's, bone stock.

However, to see a dually run 15-anything is freakin' impressive!!!

Ya, it was a first generation Lightning. Most I've seen have run low 15's stock(for the most part). The new 5.4 versions are much quicker. Some around here are dipping in the mid 12's. Not sure what they have done, but they do scoot.

I do miss that truck. It was a BLAST to drive. It was mild as a kitten, but would pass anything when you put some boost to it . It had a big turbo muffler and a turn down so it had a nice rumble at idle, with just a hint of blower whine

'96 F350 at track(the black/grey truck is mine )
Blower installation

Bigsbetter...I just mentioned in another thread that BDS has them for FE blocks; they also have them for the 429-460's...polished, too. http://www.blowerdriveservice.com/blower_comp_kit.html
Make sure you got a top notch cooling system and hang onto your head when you step on it!

Dyers also makes roots style blowers and manifolds for the 460. I think you have to use a Mallory low profile distributor though.

The Vortech is made just for a stock truck. A complete bolt on. 2 days and you're out having fun!
