Looking to buy a PSD, info please..

I’m looking at a 2000 F-350, PSD, with an Automatic, 4x4. Just under 78k miles. This had a 5 wheel hitch in the bed so I'm sure it been used to tow with.

All the fluids look good and smell good.

This would be my first Ford Diesel, and first ever with an Automatic.

What do I look for?

Listen for?

Any major problems?

You might try the search feature on your question as this has been asked a number of times before. On a 2000, one of the week points might be the tranny if it wasn't serviced regularly. I bought a 2001 similar to what you are looking at last year that had about 100k on it. It had been used to tow a lot with a goose neck trailer. The tranny had fluid changes about every 30,000miles. So far it has been a great truck. It would be helpful to talk to the former owner and to see service records.

I was looking for a search option, must have over looked it.

Thanks for all the help. It will come in handy on the next one I look at.

The dealer sold this out from underneath me, and my sales guy has not returned my calls, and this was a go.

I found out through my bank when they were confirming the VIN with the dealer. They called and ask if I had given them the wrong dealer, I told them it was the dealer that put my papers through to them.

I'm on my way there as soon as I finish this, to find out what happened. They were closed before I got home yesterday or I would have stopped.

Good luck on the truck search. If you find a PSD, you'll like.

This site is great for info I was new to the PSD and found out alot of info from this site. I bought a 2001 PSD F250 and love it and have had it alomost a year so far, the only thing i dont like is the cost to change the oil, but it makes up for that with the sound and power!

Thanks again for the help

I still don't know what happened, I have bought 2 vehicles through this guy in the last 3 years. I confronted him on the show room floor, He gets up from his desk and walks away like he didn't hear a word I said.

Now I'm PO'd as he was walking away I said "I will never buy another BEEEEEPING vehicle from you again" he never even turned around.

I walked out and the sales maniger ran to my car asking what was up I gave him the run down, he tells me he will be in touch, we'll see.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

As terribly unethical as it seems, if you left no deposit for the truck, its still for sale. They all do that. I do feel the salesman owes you at least the courtesy of an explanation, though.

I had singed for the loan at the dealer, I was trading in my 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, w/63k miles, and papers were signed, all I had to do was bring in the title and out the door with the truck I should have gone. This should have been a done deal. If there was a screw up I could understand, but don’t walk away without saying anything.

I hate to admit this but a friend of mine showed up with his dads Dodge with the CTD, (sorry didn’t mean to use swear words), what a sweet ride. It had more bells and whistles than my fully loaded Grand Marquis LS.
