Spring Hangers

Has any one built their own rear spring hangers? I'm going to use a Granada rear-end and springs on my 51 and need a little insight on the best way to build the hangers.

Gdub,

Back in the 70's when it was cool to jack the rear end of your car up, we made or bought shackle kits. Two flat pieces of metal on each side and we drilled our own holes. Cost about 3 bucks per side.

Good luck

Haven't got that far yet, but I'm going to be making my on spring hanger mounts for my Chrysler rear end and springs. I recently saw a truck using the same rear and he just used 'L' brackets made from 1/2 x 5 inch angle bolted to the side of the frame and then bolted the original Chrysler spring hangers to them. It worked out well. He put about 30K miles on the truck last year...

I've mounted my springs under the chassis and I welded a piece of thickwall tubing through the rail and boxing plate too "recess" the shackles

Gave me an extra two-three inches of lowness compared to hanging them under the rails

Pictures in my gallery (I hope.....it's uploading in another window as I type!)
