04 SD Oil Change

Well I finally hit 3000 miles this week on my new 04 SD, and being old school picked up oil and a filter to get it changed. I went out today and changed it. My question is who was the bright person that thought to mount the sway bar directly under the drain plug and oil filter. I think I had more oil on my garage floor than made it in the 5 gallon pail.

Is there an easier way to do this...well besides the dealer ?

Yup. I have the 5.4 4X4 Super Crew. I tried both a large pan and even a pail and had oil every where. You would think that if they ran the remote oil filter they could of put it where it doesn't have oil run all over other parts....

I have to agree with rdam, I purchased a Fumoto valve with the nipple to add a hose on to,and when open will drop the oil right in the pan. No Mess!!

Very good investment,
Cruzer

Try either a tranny funnel or cut the bottom off a 2 liter bottle. Nice and neat.

His sig says SD 5.4, shouldn't matter how many doors he has, or if he was mistaking with Supercrew/CrewCab, etc. The question remains: Can the 5.4 get the Fumoto valve installed on it?
