I am the owner of a 04 FX4 SuperCab and also have the rear seat rattle. Mine only isn't over bumps, however. I get it constantly while driving. I am sure this a part of the vibration problem that others are experiencing. This is only a conduit for the rattle/vibration to enter the cab. I even went as far as putting my 12 year old niece in the back seat and have her try to pinpoint the cause of the problem. After about a mile of driving she said, "I FOUND IT!" "IT IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE SEAT!!!" The look on my face was like the look of death, for I knew that I would have to partake in the dreaded rear seat removal. I had planned on taking the seat out anyway to mount a radio behind it, but now I have to attempt to "fix" something on my 33,800 dollar vehicle. Anybody else had any luck fixing this problem???

When my FX4 SCrew was new (last Spring), I had a very annoying noise coming from behind the rear seat. I would have sworn that it was the sound of something hitting the metal wall of the cab behind the seat. It turned out that the culprit was actually some aspect of the power sliding rear window. Ford issued a TSB for this repair and I had it completed succesfully in April or so. Since then, I have no noises, rattles, knocks, or vibrations of any sort.

Question for you...
I do not have the power sliding rear window, on my FX4 Supercab, yet the rattle is still there.
1) Is the sliding mechanism still in place, minus the motor/regulator/switch(obvious)/wiring???
2) If said mechanism is in place, is there an aftermarket kit availible???
Thanks

I'm sorry, I cannot answer your questions. My Ford dealer completed this repair and I did not see behind the rear seat. It is my understanding that the problem is caused by the window frame grating on the cab due to an improperly sized or positioned gasket. If you search the archives on this site, you will find many posts about rattling rear windows from earlier this year.
