mine was a 77 ranchero. kind of ugly but a beauty in many ways. i bought it for a thousand bucks when it was at 256,000 miles with very little wrong with it. the engine had never been seriously worked on and was kept very well maintained. i drove it for two years before the original timing gear teeth wore out and had to replace that and the chain. first major repair on the thing. i drove it for two more years to 317,000 miles before i joined the military and sold it to a neighbor for 1,000 bucks. he drove it until 350,000 and decided to pull the motor and rebuild it. he still drives it to this day. that was 10 years ago. ive been in love ever since.

 

Mine was a '49. My stepfather gave it to me as a vehicle to learn to work on, the body was original and near perfect, the original interior was in good condition. The engine was a Dodge slant 6 that somebody mounted with homemade mounts. It had a 3 0n-the-floor and ran well. I guess he must have gotten it from some farmer, this was in N. Wisconsin in the late 60's. He used it one day to move a mobile home, and burned the cluth. Repair it? NOOOOOOOO, he called a junkyard and it was gone when I got home from school.

 

My first Ford truck was a 79 F150 Explorer. I got it when I was 18, it was the first vehicle I ever owned. It was silver with orange stripes, and a blue interior. It was a 302 V8 with auto trans. I was the second owner of the truck, and I got it in 1995, so it was showing it's age with a little bit of rust and bondo. It still looked very nice for it's age, though. I ended up selling it to my brother 2 years later, and he drove it for a couple of years until he messed up the engine and parked it in a field out at my dads' house. It still sits there today, rusting away. Sadly, I think the truck is totally beyond repair at this point.

 

mine was a 93 F-150 XL reg cab, short bed white with tan interior. not to bad looking and still had a lot of life left in it. i got it in 97. very nice truck and ended up selling it to a friend when i was done with it.

I bought an '83 F100 Step side with the big block 300 when I was 16. It had 171,000 but I thought it was 71,000mi. Paid $1350 for it. Runs alot better installing an Edelbrock 600cfm carb, Offy C-series and Pacesetter headers with dual open exhaust to 2 1/2" stacks.

 

My first truck was a 36 Ford 1/2 ton with a V8/60hp in it. Somebody had bobbed the bed on it to about 4'. Actually it didn't look that bad, it was kind of a local fad I guess.
I got busted for driving it around Burbank with the wrong plates on it. Needless to say, that was the end of that truck.

 

Mine was a 49 Ford F1 Had the flat head 6 with the 4 on the floor, The only thing that was not original was the tail lights and the 1966 thunderbird power seats, My dad gave me the truck when I was 13 to work on, that was in 1976 and I finally let her go in 2003. That truck must have had a million miles on her and I never did have to do any major work to the engine....MAN did it smoke up a storm...LOL

 

You talk about smoking, that reminds me of a 46 Ford Sedan I had that smoked so bad that when I took off from the stop light everybody behind me disappeared in the blue smoke. After about a half a block here they would all come zooming past me so they wouldn't get stuck back there for the next light. Man that was fun!
I finally fixed it by using a radiator hose from the crankcase breather directly into the carburetor. Sounds weird, but it worked and the car ran OK that way.

 

My frist Ford truck is the one I have now, 1979 F250 460 ci Dana 60 3.54 rear. I have always hade Dodge trucks, this is my frist ford and I think it's a great truck.

 

Sounds like a cool truck!! I like flaresides. I have a 77 F100 flareside and a 92 F150 flareside.

 

My 1st FORD truck was a brand new '79 F150 4x4 Ranger XLT, been hooked on the '79 body style ever since! I bought it right before my 18th birthday and did'nt even have my D.L. yet. Wrecked it within a year of owning it. Pics in the gallery.

 

1997 f-150 flareside with a 5.4L 2wd. Got it in 98 with 15k on it, still driving it and loving it with almost 95k on it and no issues, EVER!!! Now looking to move on to bigger and better things, looking for an f-250 with crew cab, but i can never part with the 150, great truck!!!
