Some expert advice please

This is a question for the broncII experts. I own a 1985 2.8L
v-6 bronco II. I would like to replace the current engine with a 4.0 v-6. I have heard of this swap using a 1992 or so Ford Explorer engine. Is this swap relatively easy to perform? Would I be able to retain my current 5 speed transmission, transfer case, axles, ect.? Any information on this swap would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Go to "the ranger station". They have extensive advice on swaps.
I am looking at buying a B II. How is the 2.8 besides powerless?

LAST EDITED ON 31-Jul-01 AT 11:15 PM (EST)[p]The 2.8 gets bad gas mileage and is gutless. They need converted from electronic to vacuum distributor and carb 4bbl intake manifold headers from a areostar with duals and port the heads im currently trying to get the parts to do this bring the 2.8 from 115hp to around 220hp with 18-20mpg. Im keeping my 2.8 because I am going to go with another b2 with a H.O.5.0 in it when its done. Good luck with the swap the wiring is a pain but it is possible. Yes your stock tranny, t-case, axles will all work the 4.0 drops right in but you will need the electric fuel pump from the tank from a newer b2 with a 2.9.

And let's not forget the wiring harness from a donor vehicle. We all know what a pain a new harness can be...
