05 Escape Tuner?

Ken,

Has anything been released for the 05 Escape 3.0 yet? I just bought the wife one - and it needs a little more for my taste...

I haven't looked under the hood of an 05 Escape yet. Does it have the computer box on the top/center of the firewall with a single wiring harness bolted to it like the Ranger and Exporer (and earlier Escapes)?

If so, I can do an SCT Tuner for it loaded with 3 custom tunes (that you can then further modify yourself... I know you're that type of person!). Let me know the PCM code and I'll get back to you.

Hi Ken,
Do these look like PCM codes? Found them on a connector alongside 3 boxes at the location you describe:

5L8A-9S428-AD
5L8A-9F479-AA
4C24A
6PP4180-AB

The code should be 3 letter follow by one number. Try this: open the passenger side door. On the door frame (not the door) near the hinges look for a white sticker and tell me the code on that.

Unfortunately, I can not find any sticker there. Would there be any other info on it?

Okay, open the hood. You'll see a box sticking through the top/center of the firewall with a wiring harness bolted to it. There should be a white sticker on that box. Let me know everything you see on that sticker.

That's the calibration id, which can be used for a reverse lookup for the box code. When you find that, you usually find the 4 digit "box code" as well, which is what I program by. Don't know about the Aussie trucks, but here generally the cal id will be in a much smaller font on the sticker than the "box code."

Our Cal id's are only located on the PCM...
And some of us don't run original equipment PCMs

The codes I posted earlier are from that sticker...I'll try to get a photo later today and post it.

I may have found the PCM code: GVY6

It was on a sticker on the inside of the right wheel well inside the engine compartment.

That's in the correct format, but I don't have any GVY6 code listed with either Diablo or SCT.

The '05 Escape went to a new PCM type. The one I looked at, had 3 connectors rather than one like the pre-'05s. I read that it uses a different chip and diagnostic interface.

Correct. But I can do these with an Xcalibrator. Can't use chips on the new computer.

What is an Xcalibrator?

The code that I posted earlier is from the 4th linkage that sits to the left of the three connectors as you're facing the firewall from the front of the vehicle.

So my question now is--if there is not a current tuner with the GVY6 code available, can one be custom made anytime soon, or will we have to wait awhile?
