Ham/Scanner radio mounting in F250 SD??

I am a ham radio op and a fire fighter. I need to mount both my Ham gear (about the size of a CB) and my scanner (about the same size) in my new 2003 F250 SD.

Can anyone that has done this, give me some ideas. I am at a loss on a good spot to mount the equipment.

Thanks,

Craig

I had a terrible time getting my 2m mounted in the super duty. Just didn't seem to be any good place to mount it. I ended up mounting it to the bottom of the dash in that divit the Icom 8000 fits there very nicely. I hated the holes but didn't see an option as I didn't want to loose floorboard space nor did I want it mounted on the console.

Check galls.com under the vehicle equipment section and they have a mount for the Superduty that mounts under the dash. It will hold up to 3 radios if I remember correctly. It isn't a floor mount, it attaches to the dash and covers the bottom portion.

Bluehawk, What did you build your center console out of it looks really good.

Wood construction with carpet sides?? What about the top I like the look of the top pannels where did you find those?

I'm looking into a center console for gauges, switches, ect and like doing my own work.

Thanks for all the replies. Fireman28, do you have a part number for the 3 up mount? I can only find the floor mount models.
Bluehawk, I like your console. I have capt's chairs so my console is different. Something similar to what you have only shorter might work for me. Do you have any sketches or plans?

No, sorry. Each console I build is custom made to the truck, and contents used inside. You can use your imagination, take measurements, and draw up what looks good to you. If you want to know more, send me an email, and I can help.

Ft-90

You don't specify what your ham rig is, so this may not apply to you but this seems like a good thread to share my own installation anyway. I have a Yaesu FT-90 which is a small dual band radio with separable control head. The head is velcroed to the dash and the main unit is mounted to the rear seat bracket. See my gallery for details.
