Hello,

I am replacing my Windshield in my 99 F150 SCab for the second time, the last one sucked, pitted and then broke with little force.

What is the best windshield to have them replace it with this time?

There is obviously a big difference.

It seems like Carlite and PPG are the good quality ones used where I am.

 

Don't know which ones are the best but I do know there must be a difference.
I replaced mine about 8 months ago and it already has a 20" crack right down the middle. The technician said it was caused by a small (pin head) gravel strike but I don't believe him. One thing is for certain, I will not use the cheapest ones I can find.....I may even go to the dealer.
The original one last for six years and never got a crack.....just pitted real bad from living in the desert.

 

I took my 01 SCAB back to the dealer to have my windshield replaced, they said they would replace it. After driving down the road, I heard a whistling sound. I took it back and they said "we didn't replace it, SAFELITE comes here and does the work" At that point I had them replace it 3 other times because it would not seal right - I made them come to my house to do the work. Why should I let it sit at the dealer when they won;t even touch it? They finally got it but now it is pitting. I will never go that way again. Cindy Rowe does poor work too. For $500 it should be better than stock. - yeah right.

 

Would a bug shield protect the window much?

 

So is it Carlite or PPG? Anyone have any good or bad feedback on them?

Ford will not even let us order glass directly. We have to sublet it all to a local glass shop. They have always installed FoMoCo glass however. I guess you have to ask specifically for FoMoCo if it is a retail replacement.

 

Is there such thing as Ford Motor Company Glass or is it another brand and is it labeled?
