TPS replacement question?

Hi, am going to replace the Throttle Position Sensor on a 89 f250 302 fi, was wondering if this can be removed and replaced without having to remove the throttle body . Also is this sensor just a remove and replaced item or are adjustments, or alignment of this sensor required.
Any info is appreciated.

I think you will have to remove the throttle body to get to the TPS. For the most part it is just remove and replace, but do make sure the closed throttle voltage (measured between the green and black wires with the TPS plugged into the harness and the key on, engine off) is around .9V.

Question replaced tps now idle too high

EPNCSU2006
Replaced tps and check voltage, voltage was .92, now idle speed is too high. Have readjusted timing twice but it does not make any difference. Idle speed is around 1500rpm, have also replaced Idle speed by pass valve, ?Know I did something wrong but do not know what it was.?
Any info on where I should look for problem would be apprieciated!

Did you put a new gasket on between the throttle body and the intake manifold? It sounds like there is a vacuum leak somewhere. Also might want to try resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so if you haven't done so already. It should work fine, so long as you didn't mess with the throttle stop screw to get voltage to the right place.

gasket vaccumn leak

EPNCSU2006
You where right,. there is a vaccumn leak on gasket.
Replaced the gasket twice aready. I lightly oiled it before installing, Is that the correct thing to do or should it be installed dry.
I did clean mounting surface area with throttle cleaner and used a popsickle stick to remove any gasket material that where stuck to mounting surfaces, so I believe surfaces where clean and undamaged. Have one gasket left, will check throttle mounting bolts again for torque specs. Then try to seal leak with new gasket. If I am doing anything incorrectly please let me know what it is.
Appreciate your responses! Thanks

If it's a paper gasket, I would just put it on dry. Make very sure the mating surfaces are clean and free of any parts of the old gasket. Be sure to torque the bolts down to the correct specification.

I just removed my TPS. Pull the connector, remove the two screws, and it lifts right off the top of the throttle.
