Opening above front plate

Anyone put a grate or mesh over that opening right above the front license plate area? Looks like rocks or debris could fly into there; would not want anything too restrictive.

I have not, but have been looking at billet grilles on the web. Many of them will come with a cover for that opening you speak of and it looks really nice. If you go that route, just be sure to get one that will retain the factory Ford emblem on it so you can swap it out. Looks good to wear the blue oval badge.

I think that area is right by the trans cooler if I am not mistaken too.

I have the carriage works inserts on my truck, and I think they look great, might be just what you are looking for.

Do a search in Ebay for a 2004 f150 grille accent piece or 2004 g.a.p.

Make sure you add the "e" to grill

I bought the G.A.P. lower grill insert and installed it. Makes the front look complete now. Ford really screwed up by leaving that large opening without any grill for protection from road debri and buigs. Check my gakkery for a look at the grill.

I just finished installing mine. Quite simple, and looks better. It's a shame Ford couldn't finish the job.

unless you get a billet your still going to get alot of rocks and bugs in there. so i got some aluminum window screen and put it behind the stock grille all the way down under the radiator so now it wont get damaged or clogged up. works great and that 4 dollars you spend can save you. and the silver looks kinda cool behind the grille too.

I just ordered the Carriage Works pieces for my FX4 tonite. Those pieces look awesome on the front of the grille and for the lower opening on the bumper. I like that they don't cover up the Ford emblem and they break up the black in the grille. I can't wait to get them.

The link above may not work (?) ... the list of items for sale by the Grille Accent Piece (G.A.P.) seller pda4179 is linked on my gallery ... currently the very last picture added. It's pricey for what you get, but looks and functions perfectly.

Here's the picture of mine installed: http://www.gordonmerrill.com/truck/i...le_750x544.jpg

I put in a Cloud-Rider Stainless Screen. Looks sharp in the FX4 grille and bumper. I have the All Season Mirror Stainless Champagne and will be getting a Winter Shield Mirror Stainless Classic with block heater cord hole for -40 winters up here in Canada. It has rained EVERY DAY since I got the truck, so no pics yet, sorry. http://www.cloud-rider.com/screens_show.php?vhcl_id=991

I installed a "Street Scene" lower valance on my FX4. Looks similar to the stock honeycomb grille.
