Cheapest way too lift?

i have a 96 F150 5.0 4x2 and am looking for the cheapest possible way to lift it. i mainly want it because i like the look of a lifted truck but ill also be doing moderate trail/sand offroading. i was thinking a sky shackle flip in the rear and lift coils up front. would this be good or would i be better off buying like a tuff country lift kit? btw i only want to lift it 4" go with 33's so i dont really have to regear, i dont wanna dump a whole hell of a lot of money into the truck because it is used and i dont know how well it was taken care of before me.

Shackle flip and new coils up front will be your best, least expensive way to go. I won't add any more because it sounds like you already know what you're doing with them.

I have lifted 2 of my trucks and helped 4 friends with theirs and I have come to the conclusion that the cheapest way to lift a truck is to buy one that is already lifted. Just my thought.

You will need the pitman arm but I don't think you'll need the brake lines. I didn't need them for a 6" lift but I have leaves up front. I'm not sure about the coil spring front suspension and brake lines.

I would get the brake lines cause the TTB drop pretty good when going through jumps and stuff, and the brake lines don't really have the extra lenght for that on a 96

just move where the brake lines mount to the frame and you'll have no trouble. I did 4" and had to move the lines down about an inch. I went two to be on teh safe side, but YMMV.

If you get a cheap kit, you may as well get the Stage I Dick Cepek for around $475 that comes with the shocks and pitman arm. The othe option would be to go to the graveyard.com and get a Superlift bracket kit ~$250, add-a-leafs for $65 and on the 4" you can do a knuckle under mod and not need a drop pitman. It does require an 8* reamer though. Go over to fullsize Bronco and do a search on it. You would still need shocks and brake lines. There's always Rough Country that includes every thing but the brake lines for ~450. But why do that when you can get the Dick Cepek for about the same. Dick Cepek (now owned by Extreme Suspension) pioneered the lifts for the ttb stuff.
