How do I collapse 00 F250 mirrors?
Let me clarify. My 00 F250 mirrors are in the outmost, widest position. I'm under the impression that they can be pushed in towards the door for regular usuage. I've searched and can't seem to find the trick to pushing these mirrors in. Mine don't seem to just want to give. Is there a trick to this, or am I not pushing hard enough? Thanks in advance.

Do the arms look telescoping, or not? The earliest mirrors were fixed, not telescoping, and 2000 was around the transition point. If you don't see a step in diameter along the arm, with some red and white tick marks, they probably aren't the telescoping kind.
The best description I ever heard of the early ones was "with the early mirrors, people were hitting everything but the lottery!" I think it's a straightforward swap to the newer ones, other than the cost.

I had a 2000 Excursion and the mirrors telescoped. You really don't see a significant taper in the upper and lower arms though, you won't see the tick marks if the mirrors are all the way in (they still stick out quite a bit even when in). Rather than pushing in on them, try and pull them out as a second means of verification. If they do move to the outward position, the comments by others will make more sense. My guess is that if they do telescope and haven't been moved - they will be pretty stiff. Just and extra thought.

I was ready to call the PD she claimed to be under city contract... I weighed the options and decided Being from out of state and her under contract Was More hassle than its worth...
But hey, atleast My wife got to work safely " I was on my way home from dropping her to work" Minimal damage and no one was hurt
Any body converted to the new mirrors with the signals built into them ??
How difficult was it ?
Thanks
Mike

Well, a further development: it seems that my driver's side mirror will telescope. Upon close examination, I saw a bit of a red tick mark and was about to slide them out further. However, the passenger side mirror seems to be in the outmost position and I can see no marks or changes in size, and they refuse to budge when pushed. Any thoughts?

The differences are whether or not they telescope; whether or not they are power adjust for the main glass; whether or not the main glass is heated; and whether or not they have lights in them. Depending on what kind of mirrors you are coming from and going to, you may find yourself without the necessary wires or control switches to fully utilize the new mirrors, so that can get a lot trickier...but they can at least all be physically bolted on in place of each other.
