Performance 2.9 Help
Hey, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on getting my engine started for the first time.
Here's what I am dealing with: (1988 Ranger)
2.9L V6
90' MAF ECU
19LBS. Fuel Injectors
Pace Setter Headers
Colt Cam:
INT: 210° .435 Lift
EX: 216° .450 Lift
111 LDA
.037" longer push rods
.035" milled brand new casted heads
New water pump, and oil pump
IST Air Adjuster
MAF off a stock 5.0L
58mm Throttle Body
Crank has been polished and the engine has been hot tanked and honed. I also had the machine shop put in my cam bearings and cam. He was saying the 2.9 was one of the hardest to put cam bearings in, so I didn't want to screw it up.
There's probably more I missed, but I am worried about getting the timing right, and getting the engine fully primed. Also will the stock fuel pressure regulator be sufficient for the 19lbs injectors, or will I need to replace it? Can anyone recommend a setting that would be close on the IST air adjuster? (Keeps me from getting my MAF calibrated) Does anyone recommend using a good type of lube for the rod bearings and main bearings? How long do you think the transmission will last and will a 4.0 A4LD be sufficient? Any suggestion, or tip or anything is extremely helpful at this point. I am very knowledgeable with small engines, tolerances, and general mechanics. This is the first engine I am rebuilding, and honestly I have no clue what the h3ll I am doing. I only rebuild the engine because of cracked heads, and the water in my oil caused my lifters to gunk up and tick.
Thanks in advance,
Pete
