What to warm, what to cool?

Water boils (vaporizes) at 212^ F, oil vaporizes at 350^ F; A lot hotter.
Dry ice (frozen CO2) is a better way to cool than ice; much colder.
Drive that little dude on with a copper pipe over the shaft. Copper won't scar steel and iron the way a hammer will. But if you've actually gotten the parts as hot as oil will allow, and as cold as dry ice will get it, it should fit together without any banging.
Kevin, I'm about ready to clean house (223 parts). Can you pay for shipping?

We used a piece of brass between the hammer and worm gear. I sure thought it would go on a little easier after all that. I'll have to remember the dry ice/liquid nitrogen cartridge next time.
