those 4.2's are wicked, that is what ford needs to put in the mustangs instead of the wimpy 3.8

They do put 4.2's in some mustangs. Atleast I have a friend of mine who has the 4.2L in his mustang.

they don't come factory like that, it is becoming a popular swap though.

Its basically the same thing...just bored a lil. I agree that they should be in the stang, BUT, the 4.2L is underpowered for the redesigned f150, imho. I couldnt imagine adding another 1000 pounds to my truck and it being powerful enough for what i need it to do. No way.

I say, give the 4.2L to the stang, scrap the 3.8/9 motor entirely, and work on a 4.8L v6

Or, make the 4.6L the standard, like it is now, but for the price of a v6, IE under 17K, keep the 5.4L, and come up with a 6.3L v-8...lets say...360Hp, 405Tq

works for me.

i believe a 4.2 is a stroked out 3.8, i know they sell stroker kits that make 3.8 stangs to 4.2 so i believe that is all it is.

Yep, to make a 3.8 a 4.2 all you do is change the stroke to 3.74" from the stock 3.39", bore is the same.
Congrats to Talley on the 14, he deserves it, he's been going through hell lately with keeping his motor together. Him and I have the same cylinder heads
I wish they put the 4.2's in the Stangs also, but the 3.8 works well. Remember, a V6 Mustang 5speed Coupe weighs just over 3,000lbs so that's a lot less weight to pull than a pickup truck We have quite a few guys that run 13's all motor with a 3.8, and one I know of that went 12.9 with a 3.8.
No Mustangs came with a 4.2 from the factory (well, they did make a 4.2 V8 for a couple years in the early 80's), but like someone else said, it's a popular swap.
Again, congrats to Talley on the 14! I know he can do better.
Here's his original post on V6Power

14.823 @ 92.92mph on a 2.237 60'.

I had a run that I pulled 2.108 60' but missed 3rd but still ran a 15.069. If I can get this 90k mile tranny to shift decent arg.

my weight was 3,925lbs w/ driver... 50lbs heavier but ran a little bit better. Track was hooking decent, I was only barking 2nd where last weekend I spun 15' in 2nd.
