I am trying to modify my 50 F-1 instrument cluster to install a speedometer and four gauges. My plan is to keep the same housing and chrome bezel without the glass make a plate to hold the guages. Problem is, I need to find four guages smaller than the convention 2+" size. Any suggestions?

 

I thought 70's ford truck guages fit.

 

I did this and used regular 2" VDO gauges It is a TIGHT fit, but it can be done. I made the plate out of 1/4" mirrored plexiglass. I engraved the Ford script and oval from the back side (cut through the mirror). I then painted the engraved groove with Ford blue. I think it looks cool. I can email you a autocad drawing of it if you would like one. I made a CNC program from the drawing and milled it out on my mill.

 

Woodsman when I redid my 1950 F-5 wrecker, I went to the local pick-a-part and removed the gauges from a early 70s model ford truck, I used all the gauges including the speedometer. But you will have to get it re-set to your trans. But its not expensive. Check it out. Have a great day !! Tracy
