I have a 93 F150 L6 4X4 automatic. Lately it has started shifting pretty hard from 1st to second gear. It happens most of the time, not always. Teh fluid is new, the filter is new. Does anyone have any insight as to what else I could check? Thanks for your help.

 

you could have either AODE or E40D trans.

do you have O.D cancel button on shifter lever or dash?
if yes, then you have E40D. if No then you have AODE.

firdt thing first. scanned for codes. this will save you a lot of headaches and money.

 

I do have the O.D. canceller on the shifter. I will read the service manual tonight to see how to capture the codes. At this point I have no idea how it is done. Thanks for the info.

 

Im No Mechanic But Check Your Tranny Mounts.

 

There is a good chance you will pull a torque converter clutch code. A common E4OD problem and, surprisingly, a cause of hard shifting. Let us know what codes there are.
