Charging A/C

Where is the "low side" of my A/C. I need to charge it and don't know where to add the freon.

It's a 96 ranger 2.3 ltr.

Thanks,

J.

It is most likely on the accumulator, near the firewall where the a/c lines go to the evap coil. If it isn't there, follow the lines from the compressor. Should have a plastic cap on it, which unscrews. Make sure you follow the path of the o-ring to the ground with your eyes, or you'll never find it.....

Purge the air from the tube leading from the charge bottle to the low side BEFORE connecting the tube to the low side. Do this by tapping into the charge bottle and blowing a little bit of freon out of the tube. Air does not condense and you do not want it in an a/c system.

its the smaller of the 2 connectors. if you buy a fill kit, with the hose and gauge, (like I did) it will only fit on one side, which is very helpful. i recharged mine and it was a cinch.
