Popping noise in steering wheel area
Once in a while I have a popping noise in my steering wheel area when I turn and even sometimes when taking off from a stop. The dealer couldn't get it to do it enough to make a diagnosis. I have greased the steering linkages, retorqued sway bar and brackets, shocks, and wheels. Anyone else with this noise? Thanks, Antelope V-10

I know it has been a long time since you posted this, but did you ever figure out what the popping was coming from? I have no idea if the noise my truck makes is similar to yours or not, but it seemed close in the description. It isn't really so much an audible sound as it is a just a light thump. It does not feel like a deep thump either, more like it is in the steering wheel area.

I still have the popping. The dealer wouldn't listen to where I thought it was so they replaced the steering shaft and gear box but it is still there. If I put my hands at 3 and 9 o'clock and push alternately back and forth then do the same at 6 and 12 o'clock I can get it to pop. I took the cover off of the column and see a spring and washer set-up so maybe that's where it is coming from. Our service truck at work does the same thing so I kind of quit worring about it.
