I just installed 4 Pioneer 6.5" 180 max watt door speakers, and 1 Pioneer 10" 500 watt max sub...I know that's nothing really thumpin but It sounds good and is really loud for me. I was wondering if any of you knew what wattage the factory amp is for my truck and how much better it would sound if I were to upgrade the amp. Any help is appreciated..thank you.

 

Stock system is rated at 290w max, 145w RMS. Door speakers are rated at4X15 (4X30W peak) from the RCU, and 1X85 (1X170W peak) from the SW amp. Your speakers don't bump is because there is a built in crossover in the amp so all the bass goes to the sub amp. Hope this helps.

 

Thanks for the reply..actually while your inside the explorer the bass thumps pretty good. Enough for me anyways. I would also think it would be much harder for me to blow any of my speakers this way. And when I installed it today we removed the back panel behind the back seat passenger and unplugged the factory sub from the factory amp and replaced the wiring with the wires from my sub. I don't think I'm going to upgrade seeing as how it sounds good enough for me but thanks for the info.
