I look forward to seeing the pictures. I noticed your truck was built in San Jose California not too long after my dad's truck was built. Mine is F10J9R36498 (223 6 Cylinder). The 292 V8 is a durable workhorse in these trucks.

1960 F250 292.
Here is a pic of the VIN badge...question
Anyone know the difference between C and D on the engine code? Why the 2hp variance between the 2 codes on the 292?
Lastly, What color was J?
Thanks for the help.

Stopping a fridg

My first ground up resto ,never welded, shaped metal, very little body work, never painted. A 1959 f100, didn't have any idea what I was getting into, well, it fell on me broke my leg,I end up retiring & divoricing. I'm to the point of putting it together.I want a master cylinder with power booster for drum brakes. Eventually switching to disc. I'm on a fixed income now and don't.want to abandon my project. Any suggestions ?

F100 1960

I purchased my truck the first week of January 2015.I bought it in Chicago it's now in Michigan.I was lucky enough to purchase a truck that had always been kept in storage during the winter season no rust no body damage.I took it straight out of storage and was able to house it in my barn where it will stay until the snow is gone.I am the third owner of this vehicle.Have been looking for a little more than a year before I found this one. All I have done so far was to find a few parts that I knew the truck needed. Will start working on it as soon as the snow is gone.I will take pictures at the beginning and do so till I think the truck is done,if ever. Will get them to you at a later date.

Been following the forum for a while and thought it was time to say hi. Been looking for a 50s F100 for about a year but everything over here is either way too expensive or rotted out, till about a month ago. Saw the same truck,a 59 lwb, on a couple of sites and at first i didn't really look at it but it kept popping up like a bad penny so i made a call. Turns out the owner imported it from Southern California in Nov 2014 as a restoration for a quick flip but got carried away. Stripped and overhauled the brakes, serviced the engine and box, greased all the steering and swopped the carb. Started on the button and became his daily driver. He told me about all the bad bits and i said i'd call back latter that day. I called back and he wasn't happy. He'd taken it out for a run and heard a rattle from the bottom end. We've both pulled old fords apart back in the day, mostly straight 4s or essex v6, so a rumble or knock from the bottom end was what we would expect. Anyway after a couple of hours on the phone we had a deal- i'd pay his asking price plus £250 labour and he would pull the motor and fit whatever was needed plus a new oil pump, timing chain and gears..
2 weeks latter the crank has been reground, pump and gears arrived, just waiting on the gasket set, mains and big ends. Should be ready by the end of the month.
It's a totally rust free truck with a 292 and auto box. It's got the chrome ring steering wheel, original radio and heater and i was wondering if it's a custom cab cos i would like to get all the correct emblems back on it. I also need to know how many teeth should be on the gearbox end of the speedo cable as the one thats fitted doesn't mesh properly. Any info or advice. Heres the details from the VIN plate:

SERIAL NUMBER
F10C9R42108
WB COLOR DATE TRANS AXLE
118 A F10C 25F C 01
MAX GVW.LBS CERT NET HP RPM DSO
05000 158 4000

Anyone else on here from the uk??

Not much info on the truck prior to my ownership..my uncle bought it as a parts truck from a couple in Mannington, WV in the early 90's...it had had an engine/trans swap out of a 66 Lincoln Continental and a home made body and suspension lift from somewhere in its travels....my grandfather had a 1960 4x4 that my uncle retains in his possession that was used for his many Sinclair service stations in the 50's and 60's in north central WV...I plan on turning mine into a resto-mod version of his old shop truck...still in pretty solid shape for a 56 y/o truck bought for $500 in the rust belt
thanks for keeping these ******* year trucks alive and giving them a home
