Exclamation 1954 F100 Original Starting System

I posted a thread about 3 weeks ago about the wiring harness that I just purchased. At the time, I discovered that there was a wire left off the harness that should be going to the battery terminal of my voltage regulator. The schematic showed that one wasn't needed. Wrong!
Now I have a new discovery. I just realized that I can turn the motor over if I push the starter button with the ignition switch disconnected. Is this normal? If not, I think I will be returning this harness!

You should be able to crank the engine over but not have it start with the separate starter button setup. I have a 50 F-1 and it's the same way.

Thumbs up

I would have never guessed it would be that way! I assumed the the ignition switch in the off position would cut out the starter button! Thanks for the information!
