Aerostar to Ranger parts swap

Aerostar to Ranger parts swap
I've got a 92 Aerostar 3.0L RWD with an A4LD trans. I just blew the motor on it and I'm thinking about finding a ranger with a bad trans and buying it and swapping the trans rather than rebuilding the aerostar motor. I just wanted to know what years and engines are a direct swap. Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Actually the donor car will be the aerostar, it's motor is blown but the trans is still good, I'd rather have a ranger than the aerostar and so I'm thinking about finding a ranger that needs a trans to put the aeros trans into. But if the aeros trans is weaker than one that came in a ranger maybe that's not a good idea.

The Ranger from that year range is going to have either a 2.9 or a 2.3 which is not the same bellhousing as your 3.0. I am not sure if the A4LD has a removable bellhouseing or not but if it does then I think you have a good idea. The A4LD has had many many upgrades over the years and as far as I know, the Ranger, Bronco II, and Aerostar all use the same type. The Explorer on the other hand is a much stronger version of the A4LD. I would either build your Ranger, or sell that trans, its worth some bucks
