Talking FE block cyl. bore sizes, comments?

Well, got the 360 torn down and miced the cyl bores. At the top where I ran the ridge reamer they run from 4.088 to 4.091, miced at 3-9 and 12-6. Midpoint of the wear pattern they are from 4.0835 to 4.0845, at the lower end of the wear pattern they mic from 4.0835 to 4.085. Below the wear pattern at the bottom of the bore they mic from 4.0825 to 4.084. All bores seem to be pretty round and consistent. Pistons mic a consitent 4.076 to 4.077 on the skirt midway below the rings My question, overbore .060? Is that ok for this block and if so how hard is it to find the 390 rods and pistons/rings for this size bore and +.060? Looking for your comments as you guys have seena LOT more of these then I have. By the way I ordered the big block book you guys recommend, through the site. Still not here so I emailed them and after 3 days got a reply that it was back ordered.

Sorry this was sooooo long but I need to make some decisions. Thanks guys

i think it can be done! Of course .030 would be better but it past that stage. It also depends on what year block you have too.

The block is a 360 out of a '68 F100. Looking to up it to a 390, gotta find a crank and rods. DSC Motorsports seems to have a lot of what is needed. Will take a look around though. Gotta start looking for parts and such, pistons, rings, etc etc. Any recommnedations?

I think you'll be fine at .060 over. See what size pistons you can get and just go far enough to clean it up.

It's hard to say, quite a few of the later model DIF blocks like yours can't go .060 over because of core shift. Maybe while you're looking for a 390 crank and rods you'll find them in a nice block.
