"Your Opinions Of Oil Filters"

I would like some input of the best oil and fuel filters to use on my 6.9. I have heard that I can use a powerstroke filter and actully have an extra quart and more filtration.

Please rate these filters with a 1-5 in the following format, include all the brands and rate them based on your opinion.
5= Exellent, 4= Good, 3= Satisfactory, 2= Poor, 1= Bad.

NAPA =
Baldwin =
FRAM =
Motorcraft =
WIX =
Deutsch =

I saw a study where several filters were cut in half and evaluated. To my surprise Fram was the worst. I used Fram in everything I owned til I read that article. Motorcraft, Napa Gold, K&N, and WIX were some of the better rated filters. I use Motorcraft in my PSD, they are around $10 At Walmart.

Wix, NAPA and Motorcraft are excellant. Since Fram was bought out by Allide Signal their quality has gone right down the tubes. Pick up the filter and see which one weighs the most -- that'll be the one with the highest quality (my opinion only).

Otto: The factory filters come in with the Navistar or International logo on them. I'm not sure who our supplier is but my best guess would be Wix. I'll see if I can find out and get back with you on it. It is a very high quality filter.

I have been in trucking since 1974, spent 10 years so far supervising or running shops for three trucking companies. We have used Baldwin, Donaldson and Fleetguard. My personal preference is Fleetguard and Chevron Delo 400 oil. I have just under 5,000 miles (due for change) on my last oil change and the Delo 400 with Fleetguard filter looks like my Shell Rotella with Baldwin filter did at 1000 miles.

Just my opinion -- Dave

1995 F250 power stroke 4x2 extended cab long bed 5 spd 3:55 diff 149,000 miles and just getting broken in.

I have started using the K&N filters. They are $11.75 at DIS. They are of very high quality and I have been happy with them.

Otto: Our supplier for oil filters at Navistar is Cummins Engine Corp. I didn't even know Cummins makes oil filters.
