What is redline on a 4.2L 5-spd and can you remove the rev limiter?
I have a 2001 Reg Cab Sport Flareside with a 4.2 and a 5 speed. I tend to have a heavy foot and ocassionally run into my rev limiter. Since I have an XL, a Techometer was not an option for my truck. Where is my redline and is it safe to move (remove) my rev limiter?

BTW, redline is 5500. Your peak power is at 5000 RPM's though, so that is where you should shift when accelerating. Any higher than that and you truck loses power in the long run.
And just so you'll know a chip will not necessarily raise the rev limiter on a 5 speed. It will raise you speed limiter though. Either way, you need to stay between 5000 and 5500 RPM's raised or not. My preference is the Diablo chip.

I think it varies, mainly cause my truck redlines at 5700. Everytime Ive accidently redlined, its been 5700. Maybe my truck is just plain cooler? I dunno
