I have grey leather in my 99 and i love it i just ordered a 04 lariat with black leather. My 99 has 117000 miles on it and it started showing small cracks on the edge at about 90000. My truck is lifted so i had no choice but to slide across the seat when getting in and out. I cleaned and treated the leather with lexol every time i cleaned the inside. I hope the 04 leather isnt a cheaper quality.

About the cooled seats...
Navigators and Blackwoods have/had heated AND cooled seats. The new Expeditions also can have them. I don't see why someone with some motivation couldn't swap them out. I don't know if they would have any type of Lincoln, EB, Expy, etc. logo on them though. That is the route I will most likely take in a year after tech school when I start working.

OUTSTANDING! You made a great choice on the black leather. I have 04 FX4 Charcoal Super Crew (same interior featured in the brochure).
Previously, I owned a tan-leather BMW in which the front seats took a severe beating from my starched Battle Dress Uniform not to mention the abuse coming in from the field training exercises and as a result, I applied the lessons learned and got FX4 Charcoal Super Crew.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the tan look especially with dark exterior colors; however, I don’t wear business suits to work so I went with the black leather interior.
No buyer’s remorse here. It gets dusty and dirty here in the desert, but I use the same leather cleanser/conditioner on my FX4 as I did on my BMW. It works great! I also use it on my wife’s tan-leather Expy.
Next hurdle comes this summer with temps ranging 100-120 degrees. If it’s so severe, I’ll go out and purchase a cloth seat covers, hoooah!

The leather in trucks seems to be heavier than the leather used in cars. I have had a couple of Mustangs with leather that looked like crap after 10K miles. The leather I have had in my pickups doen't look used until about 20K and it only showed minor wear. I agree with other comments about sliding in and out. With leather you must have some sort of running board and use the grab handles to lift yourself in and out of the seat. Doing this will keep them from wearing out on the edge where it is most commonly a problem.
