Well I was just wondering if anyone has does this before, or did they let the dealer handle it. Also, wondering how hard, or Pain in the rear this job is going to be, and what about the front cover gasket, does that mean the timing chain gasket?
I will be starting this job Friday or Sat. after I put a water pump on my "99" Cherokee.
Thanks Stampede.

Stampede,I had the dealer replace mine for a few reasons;
1) I had the extra money at the time
2) If in the future there is a recall I have proof the dealer did the work
3) Warranty;Ford knows these motors so they were the only one I trusted
If you do it yourself buy a manual.Haynes is a good choice.Also,clean the EGR ports on the lower intake.The timing cover is gonna be a beast.Thats a 6-8 hour job. Just dont let any gasket material or excess RTV get into the oil pan or you will clog the oil pick up strainer.I highly recommend using Ford gaskets.They are updated.Before starting the engine upon completion change the oil.Good luck and keep us posted!
