Clean it with a throttle body cleaner and clean the spot where the IAC goes in the throttle body intake. If the spot has some hardened carbon then use some screwdrive or anything to clean the hardened carbon.

Slade, am I able to use any of the products I mentioned? I dont have throttle body cleaner.. I figured a damp rag would be ok as long as I made sure it was dry before I put it back on. But you are the expert not me thats why I ask

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Don't use WD-40 or Goo-Gone as they leave oil residue. Use the Throttle Body Cleaner or Carb Cleaner as it is good at removing carbon deposits and dries up fast. BTW, don't turn the pintle/springs of the IAC because you might accidentally turn it (extend) and will damage the pintle/springs when the IAC goes in because it is extended too much. So, just leave the pintle/springs alone when cleaning the IAC.

Hey, Fuggrur, what year/engine/etc. is your van? On my 89 302, the doghouse does not have to come off, you just remove the air cleaner and intake hoses.

Is the IAC white in color? Or is it metal ? I see a white thing under two giant air hoses that looks like it 'could' be it from the descriptions I have read

It's metal on mine, a cylinder looking thing mounted with two small bolts on the side of the throttle body between and parallel to the two barrels . Has a two wire electrical connector plugged into it.

Left, about, say, 6 to 8 inches from center. When you remove the intake hoses, it'll be right there on the throttle body where you took the hoses off of.

I see something thatcould be it. Its mounted vertical.. about 6 inches long. Has a hose? coming out of the bottom of it and a electrical connection ( 3 wires ) going into the top of it. If that isnt it I dont know what is lol

That sounds like the egr valve, look to your right, on the driver's side of the throttle body. I have a picture I will try to email you right now...
