What to do about rear seat belts with the top off?
OK, so the weather is getting to be more like summertime and hopefully my bike will sell soon and I can lift my Bronco. After I get it lifted I plan on pulling the top for the good weather. It's a 96' and the rear shoulder belts are attached to the roof. What should I do about the belts? I was thinking about possibly fabricating a roll bar that I could attach them to. Is there a roll bar on the market?
I would like to fabricate one that can be used even with the top on. Has anyone done this?

I can't seem to find the pic of the guy who made a cage for his, but it looked fairly simple. Basically it was a 4 point cage that covered behind the cab to the back. The seatbelts were then bolted to the bars, and you can stretch a canvas over the top for shade and showers. I'll keep looking. A definate easy fix as bigric said, would be to go for lap belts.
Edit: Just found this, this is kinda what I'm talking about

i contacted the AZ law offices and asked them, they said its not likely something that will be enforced. but to be real safe buy a small aftermarket light and hook it up to the brake light when the top is off, and as for the belts, buy aftermarket lap belts and install them right over the sholder ones. lift up your back seat and tuck the loose sholder straps under it. there you have seatbelts in the back and a third brake light.

I really like the looks of that roll cage, I just may have to bend and weld up something like that this summer. I doesn't look like it would be too hard to make, could do it the same time I weld up my pre-runner front bumper. I think I'd like the added security of a cage when I have the top off on my 94.
I may also look seriously at yanking a set of rear lap belts from one of the 80's broncos I've noticed over at the U-Wrench.

Try going to a local salvage yard and grabbing a set of mounts off of another F150 or bronco. All you really need is a mounting point for the belts. Then take all the plastic garbage off of them and weld them to the bars. you keep your safer shoulder belts that way. As for the third brake light.....mount an aftermarket one just under the rollbar with a switch so you can turn it off when the top is on.

that's Brian Soderblom's truck up above...he's got a nice website that has everything from the roll cage to the SAS...and he's got it step by step. nice site. i have it bookmarked. i'd use a set of lap belts instead of a roll bar, for starters. oh yeah, people don't advertise products like roll bars, soft tops, etc, for 92-96 trucks because of the third brake light. you can't legally remove that light, so they can't legally advertise products that might, somehow, involve removing the light. if it'll fit a 91, it'll fit the later ones as well, for the most part. at least in the case of tops and roll bars.
