I can't figure out why you guy can't distinguish between "tire vibration" and "DRIVELINE vibration".
There is a huge difference. The driveline starts at about 50+ mph and under slight acceleration the whole driveline vibrates. You can feel it in the gas pedal and the steering wheel the worst then through the truck body as if the rear end is going.Back off on the pedal and it mostly goes away.Ford are allowing a tolerance I believe of .06 and because mine is only .03 they will not repair it and I was told it was a truck after all and I had to live with it. Well I'll tell you what there is 2 chances of that, non and nil!
I could NEVER resell the truck the way it is so it is being parked and I have contacted my lawyer to sue Ford and the dealer. I do not recommend anyone purchase the 04 F150 as Ford will not stand behind it. I always thought GM was hard to deal with but trying to get Ford to back up this so called "truck of the year" has been the worst experience of them all.
And Jeff, the bottom line is if his truck does vibrate how is throwing toys at him supposed to resolve it??
I just don't get it.

I've been in the market for a new PU for several months. My full-size Chev C1500 ext. cab lasted me 10 years and over 200,000 miles with very few problems.

But, the new Chev left me cold. It's the same, 20-year-old design with a few new pieces. I drove Dodge and Toyota, the Dodge was unappealing, even with the Hemi, the Toyo was 'cheesy'.

After driving several F150 variants, I bought a 2004 4x2 Supercab, Lariat, 6.5' bed, Styleside, 5.4L. The only options were a 3.55 Limited Slip and Trailer Towing Pkg. The first time I drove the truck I that now own I did detect a very slight steering wheel nibble, right at 70mph. The truck did drive and feel different than the other brands, but I kinda like it, more like a man's truck than a girlie truck.

One of the reasons I picked the Ford is the towing capacity (for a 1/2 ton) which is enough to pull my race (sports) car and trailer, about 3.500 lbs. As an engineer and active road-racer, I tend to study vehicle dynamics. My take on the vibration problem (at least from my one-vehicle observation) is that it is a combination of the stiff frame (which transmits the slightist harmonic imbalance) and the relatively low (for a truck) unsprung front-end weight.

I intend to take my truck to my local and friendly tire store and have a road-force balance performed on the four tires. I also will be fiddling with tire pressures. And, I will let you know if adding a cab-high, camper shell has any effect.

If all fails, I will just enjoy the truck at speeds above or below 70 mph.
