ignition setup for 66 289, Mallory Unilite

Hope this is correct forum???
I have '66 Falcon Ranchero, with 289, I am putting in a Unilite Distributor, it had a Ford Duraspark from a '75 Granada, I just figured out that I do NOT have to have the ignition module, with the Unilite distributor, correct?? I have the '75 Granada coil now, it should be OK for just street driven truck, right?? I am also wondering if I have resistance wire to the distributor?? I *think* all Ford's in the 60's did??? Or, should I get an external ballast resistor, and run a new wire from ign. switch, to make sure of not having any problems??? I suppose an Accel ballast resistor would be just as good as a Mallory one??? I don't know anyone locally who handles Mallory parts, seems that AutoZone or O'Reilly's neither do so.
Thanks,
James Jensen Dallas, TX eokie1@yahoo.com

the unilite is a stand alone unit, it doesn't require the duraspark brain box. your stock coil should work fine. the red wire needs 12v, the green wire is coil -, and the black is ground.
