Hey Kooper909!

Hey, Welcome to FTE!

I have never seen you on here before you posted to my thread. Kool truck! And, I have to say, those pics you have taken are great documentation for the other guys with the same rust out probs. My truck will need the same - cab corners, runner/riser for the steps and rocker panels. Keep that gallery up for everyone to reference in the future.

I'm from Ohio. Where are you in NY?

Hey, thanks. I'm located on Long Island, NY, about 60 miles from NYC (that is, as the crow flies).

I keep a better log of the restoration on my own webpsace- check out http://www.fortestar.com/images/truck/ .

My brother and his family live in Syracuse. He's a big dog at Hanford Pharmaceuticals. Too bad "Trickle-down economics" doesn't work in this family!

I'm only twice your age, unlike some of the old farts on here!
I'm from Ohio, where 4speed is now, but I'm in Kansas going to school at McPherson College for Antique Auto Restoration.

My truck currently has a 351M w/Cruise-O-Matic in it, but I'm going back to an original 292 Y-block and 4 speed floor shift. I'm rebuilding a 4 spd floor shift tranny now that will be for sale when done, to finance the 2nd one that I have!

Sweeeeeeet. I appreciate a tastefully done rod, but there's nothing like an old truck with a stock drivetrain. Hopefully that get-together will work out eventually, although I may need to bring my dad along.

Holy rust batman! My god, you and your dad have some serious talent to go after a truck that was that bad! Doing an excellent job if I may say so myself. If you need any info on the truck or spare parts let me know, I have some 1960 stuff. Since I'm in Ohio, and NY isn't to far, I'd like to meet up sometime. -4speed

I think the quote from the movie was: "Holy rusted metal, Batman!"

Haha, thanks. We're using flat sheet metal to fabricate the stuff that doesn't show.

Did I mention I got this truck for free?

Nice work you and your father are doing, Mine isnt half as bad as yours is and Im cussing it because it has rust in places I didnt think were possible to fix..after seeing your work Mine should be a cake walk. Keep up the good work and keep us up to date on the trucks progress

Yup yup ... you'd be surprised all the places rust can hide. When we took the windshield out to paint the cab, there was a 5 or 6 inch long spot of rust on the flange that holds the windshield in. All I have to say is thank God for POR-15.

Thanks. Can't wait to drive it to school ... I should be able to do that at least a few times before the end of the year.

By the way, yours is awesome too. Great color scheme, and I love the hood scoop.

Thanks, You will have a good time driving your own ride to school. I drove mine to school the day I got my driver license and it felt good. But it didn't look near as good as yours will.

I'm very impressed. You and your dad have done some very nice work!

Looks like you are making great progress, and should be on the road pretty quick. Great job, and welcome to FTE!
