Autometer Single Gauge Pod (Mount down low?)

I'm looking to add a EGT gauge, and was considering a column mount, but don't want to "lose sight" of my odometer (they should have moulded it more to the side!!)..I have also concidered the low panel mount, (3 gauge) below the cubby hole, but I jut want to run the "one" gauge (for now)..Has anyone mounted the Single Gauge Pillar Pod "DOWN LOW" at the dash to save the grab handle?? It looks by some/most of the pics, that it would mount up high..It looks to have more of a "V" in the pod (like up high) than the pillar does at the bottom..Is there enough "material" where it can be worked to fit low??

Any info??
