I know that dennis carpenter does for 200.00 a pop. I have seen them cheaper but dont know where different companys stand as far as quality is concerned. Its a start.

We used a bumper off a late 80's Bronco on my son's 66. The Bronco uses the same bumper as the 66 with the exception of the mounting holes being farther apart than the 66's. The Bronco bumper was cheaper and easier to find than an original 66 bumper also. The stock 66 brackets bolted up to the bumper but were spaced 3" too wide to fit the 66 frame. Built two 1 1/2" spacers to go between the brackets and the frame and bolted the whole assembly in place.
This might give you another option. Good luck.

Uni bumpers are unique to the Uni (rears).
New chrome bumpers are available as low as $110, but I've seen them and they are not very nice. Thin steel and poorly prepared before chroming means they do not have a deep reflection. Better to spend around $200 and get something decent.
I also have had good experiences with the Bumper Boyz who advertise in Hemmings and attend most major shows.

Just remember -- the bumper brakets for the stock bumpers on a 64-72 styleside are NOT available. Everyone has the bumpers, no one makes the brackets. They are on ebay intermittantly and go for $50 and up.

A STEP bumper can be made to fit as well. Just get one for a 67-72. May require some extra holes drilled, maybe not. Be careful not to get one that has the "wings" going forward, towards the tires, behind the rear fenders down low. These are the places where they are likely to hit and scratch your paint.

Boy, this thread hits home! Back in my younger days I bolted a chrome step bumper to my '66 which had a homemade bumper on it when I got it, no brackets either. Looked OK for a while but I came to HATE the way the step looked on my truck and looked EVERYWHERE for a smooth stocker to replace it with. This was before my E-bay and PC owning days! After many months I ran into a fellow named Lucky Myers out of Trilacoochee FL, near Dade City in Central FL at the Daytona Turkey Rod Run a few years ago. He had the brackets and a stock rear in bad shape and sold them to me at a very reasonable price. Brackets cleaned up real nice and I found a good quality rechrome from my local bumper supplier. I LOVE the way it cleaned up the back of the truck! Matches the front now! IMO the 61-66 just don't look right with a step bumper! NEWMEX, dude you rule! I'd rub your head for luck if you were here!

LOL Thanks!
I agree with you. While the step bumper looks alright there is nothing like some chrome in the. Chrome I just got my new tail light bezzels and cant wait to get a nice chrome bumper for the back. From what I hear the step bumper is better for a work truck but I dont think the old gal has been worked much from what I can tell. The bumper is in pristine condition and the bed is straight as an arrow. Besides the chrome bumper I am probally going to change her over to 5 lug to make life a little easier.
