Question Fuel Filter on Ford Windstar

I just picked up a new fuel filter for a 1999 Ford Windstar and it says I need to relieve the fuel pressure... How do I do that? Also when I change the filter will I have any problems when I first start it, since the fual filter has air in it? I just don't want to mess up the fual injection system.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I just got finished STARTING this project on my mom's 95 Windstar. In the back passenger's side there is a door. Take off the cover and remove your jack. You will see a couple wires going into a small square box (its called an inertia switch). Unscrew the box. Take it out and unhook the wires. Then, go start the van. After a few seconds it will shut off. Turn your key off. The fuel system is relieved. You will need a special tool to unhook the fuel lines from the filter. That is where I stopped. I didn't have one! LoL! When you are all done hook the wire back onto the box and screw it back on. You may have to hit the reset button to make it work. If the inertia switch is not there it may be located somewhere else. Also, when everything is put back together turn your key to the run position. You will hear your fuel pump pumping fuel. Do this 2 or 3 times to help build pressure.

Good luck!
