From the dyno test that other users have done, the numbers seem to be pretty close.

I know what you mean custom,I have the 2001 f150 super crew 4x4 ,with the 5.4 the same motor it seems many people refer to as a dog but mine gets up and walks,I would put it up against a dodge 360 anyday, I have driven a 360 and it has nothing at all on my 5.4.

I know bowties are underated I dont know about Fords. I went on a ski trip with 2, 5.3 chevys (Tahoe and ex-cab 2wd SB). I took the Tahoe on every hill but the pick-up walked past me every time. Your super-crew takes 5.3 shortbeds? What gears do you have and what do you have done to it? Thoes 2wd chevy short beds will move, I would love to say I can take them but honestly I cant.

My Screw has the stock towing package 3.55 rear limited slip. All I have under the hood is a K&N Intake And Flowmaster one chamber with single 3" Exhaust. I emberrass lot of 5.3 and 5.7s. Most think i have done more mods but I am about do a hypertech programmer, Shorty headers, Mass Airflow and tb spacer. Maybe 3.73's out back and true dual exhaust. But I'm keepin it a stock long block. Just bolt ons.

I have also learned that when the manufacturer Grinds a Cam they usually grind around 10,000 with one grinding bit so the cams on all vehicles vary. I guess my ride has larger cam lobes than some others do. I also remember when I was test driving trucks some felt like they had more power than others with the same engine. Thats why I bought the one I now own.

I drove an 04 F150 4x4 ext. cab fx4 with 5.4 3v and it felt like a complete dog to me. It felt about the same as our 04 F150 4.6 2wd parts truck. No ***** at all. Not even a chirp of a tire from a stop. So I thought these motors had no ***** at all. Then one day they had me go pick up a trailer with a truck cap in town and I had to borrow a used truck with a trailer hitch. It ended up being an 02? F150 7700 5.4 4x4. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot I could tell it had tons more ***** then the 04's I drove. Then I got a few chances to put her right to the rug and I have to say that thing really moved for a 4x4 truck. I haven't driven any other newer trucks so I can't compare it to them, but my point is there is a big difference between some of these trucks with the same motors. I'm guessing this truck had much lower gears than the 04 did.

i have also heard that the 04 150s are not as fast as the 03s, i have a 7700 and i have a 0-60 that is about 1 sec faster than motortrends tested 150, but mine is a regular cab, and the tested was a super cab.

my best 0-60 in stock form 8.26
tested 04 was 9.3 or so

by the way you have got to have some ***** to put GM in your screen name.

^ LOL oh well. It's bad enough parking my dented up Chevy out behind the Ford dealer. I get enough flak for that at work. My family has always had better luck with GM than Ford (all old GM's though, a 78, 2 79's an 83, an 86 and an 87. I will say I don't think the 97-03 Ford trucks are that bad from what I've seen at work. They do have weaknesses but at least its not the engine or transmission.

Rear ends?

7700's have the 3.73 rear, that might be part of the differance. I have an '03 7700 and it is very ballsey.
