19.5" wheels--Anyone tried these?
I have been looking around at wheels and tires for my truck and have been seeing a lot of people putting 19.5, 22.5, or even 24.5's on the duallys. They look awesome and the tires last forever it seems. I was just wondering if any of you out there have done this or know someone who has. Seems like it would save you money in the long run.

the way I put miles on my trucks, I run through tires left and right. Not only that, but some of them look good. I know that a good mud or all-terrain tire doesn't last long, or at least long enough to offset the cost of them. Some of the bigger tires last in the 80-100,000 range, and some even longer.

Firemarshall-
I must have looked at the wrong site- the tires there were close to $500 a piece- not counting the wheels, and the wheel adapters $$$$$
If you want to do it go for it, its your truck. I guess I just think I would rather buy 4 conventional sets of tires that don't need special rims or adapters for the price of ONE set of those 22.5 tires...
But then again people but 24 inch tires on cadiallacs- or 11 inch whitewalls- so its America, your money, do up your ride the way you want....

according to one of the sites, a 19.5" wheel with 225/70/19.5 tires has an overall height of less than 35", my stock tires have a overall height of 32". I my opinion, it wouldn't make much of a difference in the final drivetrain gear ratio. I wouldn't go for the 24"s, I would just use the 19.5's with low pro (70 sidewall) tires. As for the wheels and tires, the steel are heavy and would put a good strain on things, the aluminums aren't that bad, no worse than a 35" mudder on steel wheels. Plus, I can get wheels and tires all day long thru an uncle for next nothing, but he cant do anything $ on stock size pickup tires.

Just figure every inch you add in tire height adds additional strain on the powertrain to move the same vehicle weight by about 6% to 8%. This is torque robbing strain, especially if you plan to move a trailer. I would not want to loose about 20% of final drivetrain torque just to have taller tires. I suggest that you just search for tires with a high treadwear number which is an indicator of how long they will last and how durable the tires are to wear.
P.S. I have tried this tire size changing game several times and there is no way around loosing torque with taller tires except if you are willing to change out your diff gears to compensate.

with 4.10's and a turbo, I don't think a couple extra inches are going to matter. I doubt I can do it anytime anyways, my main reason for posting was asking people who are using this setup to get experiance pros and cons. I know a lot of different tire set ups are availible and do agree that anything extra robs torque. plus not too big of a trailer.
I thank you for your imput and appreciate any extra comments, evry little bit helps
