Screen Behind the Grille

Hi guys/gals! Yep, been busy puttin on the mods. The bones are sore. Trucks lookin good though. Read the posts from you guys puttin screens in behind your grilles for bug contol and I'm wonderin if this doesn't restrict air flow? What mesh screen are you using and what mat'l? Finally, are you attaching it to the grille and how? So far I got the stabilizer on the rear, fog lamps, mudflaps, driver's side a-pillar handle, bedmat, floor mats, fire extinguisher, seatcover, custom map lite illuminating the ashtray/cupholder...I think that about covers it. I know I gotta get some pics up for you guys. Haven't forgotten. I wanna do a wash and two coat Zaino first if I can squeeze that into my schedule. Oh yeah, I still gotta do the fipk yet! Thanks in advance for any help on the bug screen info! By the way, almost forgot....I like everything bout this trk

NAH...Not enough anyway...

I used a dark vinyl screen from a busted screen door

>Finally, are you attaching it to the grille and how?

-I cut a piece about 6 inches larger (squared) than the opening.

-On the left (or right doesn't matter) I ran some duct tape to hold it there & square. It needs to be loose. The grill will push the screen back so you'll need most of the 6" of excess. More than enough is the key phrase here. You can always trim off the excess.

-I then put my grill up against it so that I could make marks in the screen to determine where the lower clips would be. I made sure that the screen was squared to the radiator (for appearance).

-Cut slits in the screen where those marks were.

- You may need to completely push the clips on with a flat blade screwdrive. I did.

-I then put the screws on top through the screen itself.

-Trim up the excess and walla! yer done.

Screen Behind the Grille

I'm using stainless screen. Probably use wire ties to install. haven't a nice day yet to go out and pull the grille never mind the 1000 other things the snow and cold are keeping me from.
