Question for the new '04 F150 buffs...

Just got my Off-Road Adventures mag, and the Pro-comp tire company's F150 is in it. Not a bad looking truck, but in my opinion, blasphemed all trucks ever made. A shifter in the floor Come on guys, what is that all about?

Yeah, it's stupid. We know. One reason why I bought the Ranger...nothing taking up my floor space.

The shifter on the floor is an option.

Even with the console shifter the 150 has more floor space than a Ranger, I know I've owned both. Personally I love it but as was stated earlier it is optional. If you don't like it don't get it. Certainly not enough reason to downgrade to a Ranger IMO especially if your concerned about space.-Jack

I guess the floor mounted lever is Ford's way of trying to reconcile themselves to all the potential customers they would have had, if that lever had been an actual manual transmission shifter.

I like it. I get out of my Frightliner with 10 speeds, get in my little F-150 and still have a place to put my hand. It also reminds me of a Hummer, about 10K less

It's funny you mentioned that it feels like a Hummer because Ford hired a designer who worked on the H2 team to design their interior...in the end Ford ended up with a truck that gives you the feel of a Hummer and in my opinion, they improved on the design in many ways, such as sitting a little higher and seats that are similar if not better than the H2.

The more I operate it the more I like it, only 1000 since Dec. 24th
milage is comming up to 14.8 from 12.2. the ride was killler smooth, I added 20" wheels with 275\60 Wrangler HPs. 2.97 % bigger a little over 2" larger dia. I feel with the 3:73's It would still pull fine on the bottom end and turn less RPM on the Interstate.I,m not racing light to light It did firm up the ride just a little, still great ride.Ordered the Airtail kit and looking to open exhust.

So you are saying that you can order the Lariat with a shifter on the column? I was told that if you wanted to use that space in the floor for usefull purposes, you had to get a trim level (XL, some XLTs) that didn't have the shifter there. So it is optional, but at the same time it's not.

WXboy, the column shifter is standard on all trims and comes a fold down middle seat. On an XLT, you can get a floor console with the column shifter, but it doesn't go all the way through.

The floorshifter/flow thru console is an option on the Lariat and FX4. It looks great but feels pretty cheesy in my opinion.

WXboy, you most certainly can get the Lariat with a column shifter. That's what I bought, I like the looks of the floor shifter but my lady friend (wife ) can't slide up next to me with it! Here is a link to some pics of mine.

I love the floor shifter. It think looks great. That's one of the reasons that I had to have the truck. It still has plenty floor room for me and my family.

Consul shift? My Jag has it, My Lexus has it. and so does my truck.
Quite resisting change, and accept improvements.
