Super Cab rear bench seat lift kit?

Super Cab rear bench seat lift kit?
JC Whitney sells a rear bench seat lift kit made by Calmar Industries Inc. The kit costs $139 for my application (1978 F250 Super Cab). Seems a little spendy for what you get which is from the looks of it 10 dollars worth of metal brackets...
Just wondering if anyone has installed one of these things and how it worked out?
* Does your head run into the slope of the back cab?
* Can you still utilize the fold down option of the seat and still turn it into a flat storage area?
*On the 73-79 Super Cab there is the padded back rest that runs around the back of the cab. Does that stay or go?
Any responses are appriciated...

Depends on how high the lift is. I have a 1995 F-150 and put a 4" lift on my rear bench seat. I know it is a bit of difference in the year model, however I cant imagine there being much, if any difference. With the 4" lift under my seat, I had to turn my head sideways to avoid hitting the ceiling. Also with the kit installed, the bottom of the bench slopes to the rear slightly more than it did when stock and makes it uncomfortable. As for the wrap around in the back, I cant remember if it stays or go's, but I want to say it stays.
It has been about 2 years since I had mine installed and I only had it installed for 2 days and then took it out since I didnt like it. Waste of $100 bux for me.
Take that for what you will, but it is possible the difference in year model might make your application a lot different.
By the way, I found my kit at www.lmiwelding.com

giarc25,
Thanks for the response & the link to lmiwelding. At $125, that's cheeper than JC Whitney. Still not sure I wan't to make the alteration given your response indicating you took it out after a couple days. I have the same worry about a lack of head room. I think I'll jump back there with a 4" phone book and do some testing. Maybe my 78 will have a bit more clearance...

I think the older trucks have a lot more head room than the newer models. If I sit in the back seat of mine I almost feel too low, like I can barely see over the front seats.
I was looking into those kits as well but it seems like a lot of money for what they are, just a couple simple brackets. I'm holding out to see if I can find a nice bench seat to replace the whole thing.
