Question zero-deck??

hi there

got a question about deck clearance.
does anyone know what`s the deck clearance of a D1VE A2B
block? And i wanne raise my compresion ratio to 10.5 : 1 with flat tops pistons and (how do you call it) grinding off the deck and/or heads. (my englisch isn`t very well i`m sorry) but i don`t know how much i can take off without any troubles.
hope you can help me.

thanx

The best way to do it, is get your components, take them to the machinist, have him begin machine work, measure deck clearance, and have him take it to around .005 to .001 deck(height above piston). The reason to not go to exactly zero deck is, that every component (rod, piston) will expand in length, causing it to go over deck(around .002 -.005 over) a small amount. Leaving it .005 in the hole won't decrease compression enough to worry. What cylinder heads do you have? To get 10.5:1, you'll have to run a dish piston with C8, C9, D0, D1 heads. You might get 10.5:1 with a flat top with D3 heads. I highly recommend you stay away from D2 variants.

(cause it`s difficult to get C8,C9,D0 or D1 here in holland)
with lunati flat tops pistons i get 9.8:1 compression, but i want a 10,5:1.
I don`t know wich brand pistons i`m gonna choose. any suggestions??
I`m also wanne change my camshaft but don`t know wich to choose, do you got suggestions??

I used Keith Black 137's they are flat tops with a +2cc valve relief for the intake.

My compresion was advertised at 10.3:1. Compresion test showed 180psi.

I had major detonation problems with 91 octane until I switched cams.
