What happened to global warming?

The Weather Channel ran some statistics last night about the number of times Boston has been as cold as it is in the last century. Since 1950 it's happend only two or three times, but from 1900 to 1950 it happened 29 or so. I believe they said the numbers were similarly high (about once every couple of years) for the 19th century, as well.
Can you imagine not only having that kind of weather every couple of years, but having it before synthetic insulation and man-made, weatherproof garments? And how in the heck did any of the pilgrims survive their first east coast winter at all? In any era, I think I would've keeled over and turned into a soksicle.

IIRC nearly all of the world's glaciers are presently receding so global warming could indeed be real. It should be remembered that one of the features of global warming is the destabilization of existing weather patterns including the position of the jet stream. The recent cold snap in the northeast could be indicative of the reality of global warming and not evidence against.

I saw on the news yesterday that the frigid air we now currently have over the norteast (The Alberta Clipper?) was actually over Russia a week a go! Seems the shift in the jetstream pulled hard over the Arctic Circle and came this way.
Seemed interesting a t the time, now I,m just freezing my **** off!
