If your search funtion doesn't currently work for you, as it doesn't for myself. Most books or performance related literature, will classify the 351/400/modifieds under "335 series small block". ONly difference between the windsor and the modified, is the modified weighs a lot more and uses a big block bellhousing. Later

Its technically a SBF since the cylinder bores and cylinder head length are all the same. Hence the reason 400 heads are going on my 302.
I really want to build a 400 with 4v cleveland heads, and longer con-rods (like 7")

i believe the 351m, 351c and 400 are all small blocks. They are like in between and some considered them big blocks. they do have big block bell housing patterns. yet the old 332, 352, 360, 390 were all big blocks.

The 351C has a small-block bellhousing.

The 351M/400 shares a bellhousing and distributor with the 429/460 big-blocks

All of the 351's were considered small-blocks, along with the 400

The 330, 332, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 406, 410, 427, 428 are sometimes referred to as big-block motors which they are but, they are really FE Block motors whick is another debated subject of what FE stands for. They do not have the same bellhousing as the 429/460 big blocks.

The 370, 429, 460's are considered the big-blocks.
