'99 rear differential ratio

Hello to all,
Recently purchased a 99 F150 with a H9 rear differential code which I interpret to be a limited slip 3:55 gear.
Problem is it's only getting 15 miles a gallon and that's highway. Is there a gear ratio that's lower to improve my miles per gal? Limited slip is not a priority at this time, primary concern is fuel economy.
Thanks.

What engine? Also did you mean to post that in the 97-03 forum?
