overload spring
Does anyone have a suggestion for increasing the load being absorbed by the overload springs on the 2001 f350. When loaded with a 2800lb camper the overload springs barely touch the rubber bumper pads on the frame. I would like a stiffer ride when the camper is loaded and it seems that this could be accomplished by installing a thicker rubber pad on the frame or adding a spacer block to the ends of the overloads to increase the load absorbed by the overload leafs. Does anyone know whether this has been tried or if the necessary parts are available?
My friend with an identical unit has installed Timbren rubber springs but this has lifted the rear end so much that the overload springs no longer become engaged at all and become ,in effect, superfluous.

I have the Firestone airbags on my truck to help level it after loading my camper. I've still wanted to do what you are trying to do just for backup safety sake. My airbags would bottom out if the air was removed before the overload would carry enought weight. Someone had suggested replacing the upper stop rubber with hockey pucks. This sounds like it would work, but I haven't had time to try it out. By drilling holes in the puck so that the bolt head was recessed, the puck would become your overload contact point. You could even add more than one puck for quicker overload contact. I'll report back if I have time to try it; you do the same please.
