2000 ranger computer reset

i have a 2000 ranger that will not start and the theft light flashes real fast. i have contacted several ford grages and they said i need to have the computer reset because of the theft system, for a large fee. i have reset gm products which was a simple procedure i was wondering if this ranger was the same. if someone could tell me the steps it would be great.

thanks
jamie

Welcome to FTE jamiem. There is most likely a proper procedure that the techs use. In the meantime, try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. When you re-connect it, have your remote ready in case the alarm goes off.

did you change anything, keys, pcm, add a chip.change instrament face.
resetting pats and mostlikely a new key reader.will require a ford star comp that only ford has.it cost me 100 bucks for a tow and 75 for ford to reset my pats.its not the pcm.its pats

the battery must be dissconnected anytime the dash is worked on.the reader can accidently be shorted
